“Everything you can imagine is real.” ― Pablo Picasso

July 22, 2017

This is Melanie Kern-Favilla, a talented artist, and photographer. She also happens to be a train engineer on the Long Island Rail Road and a KelbyOne.com member. Melanie entered and won our international member competition and, last night had her work featured in a solo gallery show at The Gallery at KelbyOne. Melanie is the real deal, the genuine article and an all around awesome person. I like that about her, and I couldn’t be happier for her. Congratulations, Melanie, you rock! Thank you for being such an inspiration to us all. 🙂

And you see that encourager standing next to her? That’s her husband, Dave. Dave encouraged her to enter, ensured her that she’d make the final round and then on announcement day was racing home and on the phone telling her she’d better be watching The Grid (Kelby TV) because she was “Going to win!” I like that about him. Dave, you rock! Don’t ever stop being the power of the other because, well, it’s a wonderful thing to be. 🙂

Thank you to everyone at KelbyOne that makes this event happen each time. From the artist selection process to installation, to video, graphics, marketing, member services, web, IT, our wonderful host for the evening, Mr. Larry Becker, right down to the selection and placement of the wine and cheese there isn’t a single person who isn’t involved. Heck, I even saw our book team taking promotional shots last night. Hahaha! We’re all excited for our members and this opportunity for them, so I want to thank our team, from the bottom of my heart, it means a lot to me.

Members chatting with Melanie about her work.

Everyone wanted Anthony Scott (voted to have the “Best Photographer Stance Game”) to take their photo at the gallery step and repeat backdrop. Hahaha!

Thank you to everyone that came and helped Melanie, and all of us at KelbyOne and the whole membership celebrate — can’t wait until next time!

Thank you so much, Kalebra & Scott, for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It’s something that Dave and I will never forget. One of the greatest nights of my life.

Blown away. Wow. First, Larry is Dick Cavet, right? Fantastic interviewer.
I found myself being so in tune with Melanie all the way down to my little cardboard box painted black on the inside for indoor macro.
I learned so much from her on how to improve my flower photos. She is a real artist and I am so happy you and Scott gave her a stage. I am once again so proud to be a member of your KelbyOne family.
P.S. my 8th birthday present was a ride in the engine of my mother’s commuter train into Boston.
I also scan my fancy knot work on the flatbed scanner.
Thanks again to you and all of your helpers. Made my day. Woo hoo.
