I like that about Henry.

July 20, 2017

β€œSummer afternoon β€” summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.” – Henry James

Kennebunkport, Maine and one of my favorite little coves in all the world.

So excited I forgot to burst!

July 8, 2017

Well, Burst Mode, on the iPhone that is. πŸ˜‰ And because I forgot I got one shot, this one. Last night we were coming home (over the Causeway) when this cheeky pelican invited us to follow him. It was so exciting to see him there, over the water, all silhouetted at sunset and everything. Hahaha! And no idea that we were playing awesome music inside the car with each of us (me, my husband and our Yittle) getting to take turns picking a song, right at the moment he showed up to invite us into this beautiful flight scene. So lucky I had my trusty iPhone because even though he had invited us to follow we were about to pass him! Hahaha! A little cropping and editing in Adobe’s Aviary and voila!

I had to share though because this is a thing I love most about using the camera on my phone β€” chances/moments like this. Now when I think back on that exciting (soundtracked) moment with our cheeky pelican and that beautiful sunset, I’ll also have an image and that is a beautiful thing.

Have a great weekend everyone β€” I hope you don’t miss a moment of it. πŸ™‚

Florida Oranges

July 1, 2017

One of my favorite things about Florida is the predictable afternoon/evening summer storms, and last night the skies before the rain turned a gorgeous shade of orange. Even for someoneΒ that’s seen that happen a lot here, it was still a sight to be seen. It’s nice to have the rain back. ☺️

Rockin’ the Zen this morning. ;)

May 18, 2017

Every time (and I do mean every time) I get in a rush a turtle is placed, literally or figuratively, in my path. Yesterday, it was this little one and I was so grateful for her that I thought I’d share the moment. You know, in case you also needed a reminder to slowdown. πŸ˜‰

Have a great day everyone.β˜€οΈ

Good morning, Monday! πŸ’

May 15, 2017

I just loved these orchids my brother gave our mom for Mother’s Day β€” they were perfect with her backyard garden. Well, everything goes perfectly with her garden (especially Mother’s Day). πŸ˜‰

Happy Monday, everyone!

White Rabbit Road

April 10, 2017

I was having lunch with a friend last week when she asked me what I look for when I go out to take a picture?…

Me:Β β€œHuh? You know, Kathy,Β I don’t really go out to take a picture. I’ve thought about this but what happens, really, is that I come up on a story and it excites me, fascinates me or stops me in my tracks with how beautiful I think it is and then I take a picture. Even if it’s just a moment story I’ll want to capture it. I giggle under my breath when someone calls me a photographer because I really feel like a story gatherer.” Hahaha!

IΒ love stories. I love to hear them, have them told to me, read them, write them…

I come from a very large family and when I was young we gathered a lot and the kids would sit satellite around the adults and listen to them talk and tell their stories. True and some not true stories (at least, I hope they weren’t all true). Hahaha! They were about good times, great times, bad times, terrible times, funny things, sad things but whatever they were about (good or bad) they were always told, somehow, with fondness. Can you imagine? My mother, father, four uncles (heck, one of them wrote songs where he talked his stories over music), both of my grandmothers, grandfather, aunts…it’s amazing really to have so many in one family. My mom always jokes that it was because β€œwe didn’t have money so that’s how we entertained ourselves.” Maybe but I think we were luckier than just not having money β€” those people were (and are) special and I’m so grateful for them and what they added to my life, to how I see things, to how I want to see things.

Like this moment story on the way back home from taking my Yittle to school. I turned the corner on a foggy morning and I could have sworn I saw my white rabbit (in his usual hurry) dashing off into the fog and trees. I just had to stop and let him know I noticed. πŸ˜‰

Happy Monday everyone. πŸ‡
